[ARCHIVED] Powhatan Public Safety Communications Department Is First in Virginia to Upgrade to RapidSOS Premium

Public Safety Communications Department logo

Powhatan Public Safety Communications (PSC) recently became the first in the state to enable RapidSOS Premium, to better connect the community to safety. RapidSOS is the intelligent safety platform that securely links life-saving data from over 500 million connected devices, apps and sensors directly to RapidSOS Safety Agents, 911 Communications Officers and other first responders.

Today, 9-1-1 Communications Officers are forced to rely on the limited information a phone call can provide. The data shared by RapidSOS helps Powhatan’s Communication Officers to see location, health, crash, and alarm data to accelerate response times and provide first responders with incident-specific information prior to arriving on-scene. With RapidSOS Premium Powhatan Public Safety Communications can access all this information on one unified screen with our jurisdiction’s locally authoritative GIS data, which is a customized map featuring landmarks, fire hydrants, and much more. 9-1-1 Communications Officers can save valuable seconds locating a caller or emergency, and seconds save lives.
